We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and take ownership of all culinary operations. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality food.
You’ll be responsible for menu development, kitchen management, food safety, and leading a team to deliver exceptional dishes & experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage kitchen staff, including recruitment, training, and rostering
Develop and execute menus that align with the venue’s concept and seasonal availability
Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control
Manage food costs, ordering, stock control, and supplier relationships
Maintain strict compliance with NZ food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
Oversee kitchen operations during service and ensure smooth daily operations
Collaborate with management on budgeting, pricing, and business planning
Foster a positive, professional kitchen culture
Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef ready to step up
Strong leadership and people management skills
Solid understanding of food cost control and kitchen administration
In-depth knowledge of NZ food safety regulations
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Passion for fresh, quality ingredients and well-executed dishes
Excellent organizational and communication skills
