About the Role

Pipework Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, or a highly experienced commercial plumber, drainlayer, or civil contractor with demonstrated pricing skills and office-based experience, to join our team in Grenada North, Wellington.

This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tenders and managing the financial aspects of plumbing, gas, drainage, civil drainage, and water within construction and development projects across the Wellington region. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are secured and delivered successfully, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with leading construction and development companies in the Wellington region

  • Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify and quantify required resources

  • Identify opportunities for sourcing new business and relationships

  • Source and negotiate competitive pricing with suppliers and subcontractors

  • Monitor project costs, variations, and cash flow to ensure effective budget control

  • Prepare regular cost reports and financial documentation for project teams

  • Provide commercial and financial advice to the construction team

  • Manage the preparation of bids and tenders

  • Oversee and prepare claims, progress payments, and invoicing

About You

You will bring a growth mindset, a positive attitude, and a willingness to take on challenging and varied projects. You will have a strong understanding of and experience in the construction sector, with a particular interest in pipes, and the skills and experience to lead key work streams. You will have the ability to think strategically across the business, not just on individual projects.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent industry experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator in the construction industry or significant experience in pricing as a commercial plumber, drainlayer, or civil contractor

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Confidence using estimating, project management, and other computer-based systems

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines with minimal oversight
