Job Summary

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at CarExpert, you will work closely with your peers in an agile team to deliver new projects and continuous improvements to our internal and customer facing systems. We're looking for someone who is passionate, proactive, goal oriented and possesses excellent problem solving skills.

This role is critical to our microservices transformation journey, and you will be reporting to our Country Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with product management and the rest of the engineering team in Australia to scope, build, test and deploy new features and fixes across our projects and products on our website.

• Building and supporting React and Next.js frontend applications.

• Integrating external systems with ours.

• Peer review code authored by other developers.

• Get involved in discussions and initiatives to improve the codebase and technical design.

• Investigate and fix bugs in our codebase.

• Champion and contribute to a culture of diversity and inclusion.

• Mentor and coach junior members of the team.

• Own and support the full technical stack, including frontend, backend, APIs, and infrastructure.

Education, Experience & Skills 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Minimum three years experience in OOP development with PHP, NodeJS, GoLang, or Python.

• An understanding and appreciation of SOLID principles and elegant and testable code.

• Experience in developing on AWS or Azure.

• Good knowledge of relational databases using MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL and familiar with DB schema designs.

• RESTful API in JSON formats, and JWT concepts.

• Automated testing including unit testing and end to end testing.

• Experience with using React, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, SASS or LESS, JavaScript, jQuery.

• Good knowledge of Git for project version control.

• Eagerness to learn and open to work with any programming language.

• Experience in Agile development processes, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

• Tolerance for ambiguity, a dynamically evolving environment, and a willingness to take on new challenges.

• Propensity for personal motivation, initiative, adaptability and the willingness to face challenges head-on.
