We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team, someone passionate about supporting our local industries and committed to maintaining high standards within the horticulture and wider primary sectors.

Candidates must have experience in horticulture and auditing. Preference will be given to applicants with auditing experience in GLOBALG.A.P. or NZGAP or those with a background in quality assurance within primary production.

In addition to horticulture, you will assist our team in delivering audits across the red meat, dairy and poultry sectors, supporting a diverse portfolio of assurance programmes. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and is confident engaging with different farming systems and production environments.

You will receive comprehensive training to become a Recognised Farm Auditor, and once accredited, you will work from home, using a company vehicle to visit growers and farmers throughout your region.

Your responsibilities will include on‑farm assessments of food safety, environmental practices, animal health and welfare, and (where relevant) milk quality. Strong communication and relationship‑building skills are essential, as you will work alongside growers, farmers, and their teams to ensure industry standards are consistently met.

This role suits someone who enjoys being hands‑on, has a practical understanding of horticultural and farming operations, and values connecting with rural professionals on a day‑to‑day basis.

Self‑management is an essential part of the role, you will plan your own workload, manage travel logistics, and confidently adapt to the needs of a range of farming and horticultural operations. You must be physically fit, comfortable with digital tools, and able to think on your feet.

Requirements:

• Located in or near Napier

• Must have significant experience working within the Horticulture industry

• Excellent time management skills

• Ability to communicate effectively both in person and in writing

• Must have a good grasp on technology / digital systems

• Physically fit

• Full driver's license

• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

Qualifications / Experience:

• A tertiary qualification in science, agriculture, horticulture or another related field is essential

• Experience working in the primary industries preferred
