Senior Surveyor, Cromwell | Listed Date: 2026-02-08
Proceed to ApplicationShape your future in the heart of Central Otago.
If you’re ready to take the next real step in your surveying career, Cromwell offers something special. Here you’ll find a tight-knit Patersons team, a region full of meaningful projects, and the kind of lifestyle that gives you more time for the mountains, the lake, and the people who matter.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Surveyor who wants to lead projects with confidence, guide others, and help grow a branch that’s proud of the role it plays in our community. If you’re seeking progression without the politics, and responsibility backed by genuine support, you’ll feel right at home.
Why this role stands out
As part of our Cromwell office, you’ll work closely with the Alexandra and Wānaka teams, blending local autonomy with access to a broader pool of knowledge. You’ll lead and deliver a mix of land development and cadastral projects, including work such as the Wooing Tree subdivision and specialist deformation monitoring assignments that make the most of your technical capability.
This is a role where you can shape how things are done. You’ll build trusted relationships with clients and councils, mentor junior staff, set standards for quality, and confidently manage projects from planning through to delivery.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be a skilled surveyor with at least seven years’ experience across land development, fieldwork, and office-based survey deliverables. You’ll know your way around 12d, CAD and Landonline, and ideally be a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor or close to it. Just as important is how you work: clear communication, sound judgement, an ability to see ahead of a project, and a steady, positive way of supporting others.
Life in Cromwell
Outside of work, Cromwell gives you access to everything Central Otago is known for. The lake, the Cromwell Gorge, Bannockburn, bike trails and two alpine ski fields are all an easy reach. It’s a relaxed, family-friendly place to settle with short commutes and a strong sense of community. Relocation support is available for the right person.
At Patersons, you’ll also enjoy funded health insurance, an employee assistance programme, a paid volunteer day each year, and ongoing investment in your professional development. You’ll be part of a supportive team that genuinely enjoys what they do and takes pride in delivering excellent outcomes for clients.
