Jewellery Services is expanding its offering and is proud to introduce a new opportunity for a highly experienced and qualified Jewellery Valuer / Appraiser to join our team. This newly created role is ideal for someone looking to take ownership of building and leading a dedicated in-house valuation department.

With almost 40 years in the trade, Jewellery Services is a trusted name in manufacturing, CAD design, repairs, and restoration — and now we’re ready to bring valuation expertise into our business.

 

About the Role

As our first in-house valuer, you will be instrumental in establishing processes, tools, and standards for valuations. You’ll handle a wide variety of items including diamond rings, coloured gemstone jewellery, vintage pieces, and watches, providing accurate assessments for insurance, estate, resale, and trade purposes. You’ll also work closely with our leadership team to shape the growth and future direction of our valuation services.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the in-house jewellery valuation function

  • Conduct precise and independent appraisals of jewellery, diamonds, gemstones, and watches

  • Produce detailed, professional valuation certificates and reports

  • Set up best practices, systems, and documentation for valuation processes

  • Liaise with trade partners, insurers, and retail clients

  • Stay up to date with industry standards, market trends, and pricing

  • Ensure full compliance with relevant ethical and professional standards

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in jewellery valuation

  • GIA Diamond Grading qualification is essential

  • Additional gemmological or appraisal qualifications (e.g., FGAA, FGA, or other recognised programs)

  • Strong attention to detail, high integrity, and a passion for accuracy

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A proactive, self-motivated individual who can work independently and take initiative

  • Experience setting up or leading valuation functions is a strong advantage
