About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Pharmacy Retail Assistant to join the team at Southmall Pharmacy in Manurewa, Auckland. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of our pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Retail Assistant, you will be the friendly face of our business, helping customers whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and care. This role is essential to ensuring our customers receive outstanding service and feel valued every time they visit us.

Key responsibilities

1. Provide friendly, efficient and knowledgeable customer service to pharmacy customers at the retail counter

2. Process customer transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handling cash, card and other payment methods

3. Stock shelves and displays with retail products, ensuring items are well-organised, clearly priced and readily accessible

4. Maintain a clean, tidy and welcoming retail environment throughout your shift

5. Answer customer enquiries about over-the-counter products and direct customers to pharmacists for prescription-related questions

6. Support the pharmacy team with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry and inventory management

7. Assist with receiving and unpacking stock deliveries and maintaining accurate inventory records

8. Follow health and safety procedures and comply with all pharmacy regulations and company policies

9. Support promotional activities and help with merchandising displays as required

What we're looking for

1. Previous retail or customer service experience, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting

2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for helping customers

3. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

4. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills

5. Excellent organisational and attention to detail

6. A reliable and punctual approach to work with a professional attitude

7. Physical capability stock items throughout your shift

8. Knowledge of pharmacy products and services is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided

9. A commitment to confidentiality and understanding of health and safety requirements in a pharmacy environment
