We are a small team that covers Tamaki Makaurau in the community, safe house and transitional housing. We are seeking a Social Worker or someone with similar qualifications in a fulltime position working Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm, plus participation in the afterhours crisis line roster.
You will be working in our Safe House in West Auckland and provide adhoc cover in our Safe House in South Auckland when required. In this role you will:
- Awhi wāhine and Tamariki into the whare, be whānau focused
- Advocate for the needs of the wāhine and Tamariki
- Use identified models of practice from a Te Ao Māori perspective
- Work within processes and policies for best practice in all that you do
- Health and Safety compliance
The right person will have:
- Understanding of Tikanga and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi Principles
- A strong advocate for wāhine and their Tamariki
- An understanding of the dynamics of family violence
- Experience working with vulnerable whānau experiencing family violence
- Excellent communication, listening skills and computer skills
- Clear professional boundaries and a non-judgmental manner
- Being highly motivated, positive, solution focused and a team player are a must
- Ability to work alone
- Flexible attitude and 'can do' approach
- High level of self-awareness
- Ability to manage and deal with competing priorities
- Ability to work in a fluid and sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to identify risk, follow process and instructions to manage them
- Conflict management and de-escalation techniques
- A clean, full driver’s licence and positive police vetting results under the Vulnerable Children's Act
- NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
